19 Jun June 19, 2016 Dhs2 million car tyres are embellished with gold and diamonds A set of four road legal tyres is a unique creation by Dubai-based company Zenises. They are primarily made of rubber like any other conventional tyre but they’re adorned with 24-carat gold and studded in diamonds and so they were certified by the Guinness Book of Records as the most expensive tyres ever made. Diamonds were supplied by Italian jewellers Joaillier Privé, who fitted the rocks onto the 3D-printed white gold casing they also provided. The casing was delivered to China where it was fused onto the tyres and was then sent back to Dubai to be layered with gold-leafing by the team who decorated the new royal palace in Abu Dhabi. The finished products were first put on display at an auto trade show in the German city of Essen last May. The final buyer was not revealed but perhaps the best part of this story is that Zenises will donate all the profits from the Dhs 2 million sale to the foundation, focused on improving access to education around the world.
