Dubai-Sharjah Traffic Jams to End in 2018

Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, UAE Minister of Infrastructure Development, has said that traffic congestion between Dubai and Sharjah will soon end.

The opening of the Dh200m Badee’ Bridge project -75 per cent complete – by August, 2018 will ease traffic flow between the two emirates, Al Khaleej reported.

Al Nuaimi identified traffic on four kilometers across popular Dubai-Sharjah highways that are prone to traffic.

He added that they are planning two new truck lanes on Emirates Road in both directions, which will not only end heavy vehicle traffic clogging the highway on either side, but also do away with designated hours currently in place.

There will also be truck stops built alongside the road, ease traffic flow as drivers won’t need to park on the side of the road anymore.

Al Nuaimi said that the government is considering road works pertaining to Ittihad, Mohamed Bin Zayed and Emirates roads, after 2021 to further ease traffic flow between Dubai and Sharjah.
