27 يوليو 27 يوليو 2016 م حددت الإدارة العامة لمرور دبي الطرق الأكثر خطورة ووفيات الحوادث في الربع الثاني من عام 2016 م. وفقاً لآخر الإحصائيات، يوجد زيادة في عدد وفيات الحوادث في دبيمنهم تقرير بـ59 حالة في الربع الثاني من هذا العام مقارنةً بـ 42 حالة في الفترة المقابلة من عام 2015 م كما جاء في تصريحات الشرطة العقيد جمال البناي، القائم بأعمال مدير شرطة دبي المروركشف بأن شارع الشيخ محمد بن زايد صُنف أكثر الطرق خطورةبـ14 حادث وفاة في الربع الثاني من هذا العام مقابل 3 وفيات في نفس الفترة من عام 2015 م وصُنف شارع الإمارات في المرتبة الثانيةبوقوع 9 حوادث وفاة مقارنة بـ0 حالة في نفس الفترة من العام السابق شارع الشيخ زايد و وشهد طريق دبي العين 2 حادثين وفاة الربع الثاني من عام 2016 مقارنة مع 4 في نفس الفترة من العام الماضي. These statistics were presented during a meeting with Maj Gen Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief. The meeting was aimed at evaluating the Traffic Police Department’s performance during the second quarter of 2016 and setting future goals for them. Col Al Bannai explained that the Traffic Department fined 41,627 vehicles and 18,203 pedestrians crossing from undesignated areas in the second quarter of 2016, which is 15% less than last year in the same period. However, the number of fined violating trucks increased for 190%, to 19,489 trucks fined in the second quarter of 2016. Maj Gen Al Mazeina highlighted the importance of intensifying security measures on the roads to reduce serious traffic violations such as failing to keep safe distance, sudden swerving, road rage, stopping in the middle of the road, speeding, not maintaining lane discipline, jumping red lights و entering a road without checking if it’s clear. He called on the department to implement more initiatives and awareness campaigns that contribute to spreading the culture of safe driving in society, which helps protect the lives of road users. He also asked for tighter measures to catch violators, such as more patrol cars on the roads and use of technologically advanced devices to fine violators.
